Sketching @ the MFA

Had a wonderful opportunity to spend some quality time with some of my favorite paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston:

From Abbott Thayer's "Caritas"- Graphite and Prismacolor Colored Pencil.

From John Singer Sargent's "Mrs. Charles Inches"- Prismacolor Colored Pencil.

From John Singer Sargent's "Helen Sears"- Prismacolor Colored Pencil.

From Anders Zorn's "Martha Dana"- Graphite.

"The thicker you paint, the more the color flows"

A copy of an Anders Zorn painting in acrylic. I used giant mounds of cheap Liquitex Basics for this one; it really makes all the difference in the world to use plenty of paint. Colors: Ivory Black, "Vermillion"(Burnt Sienna + Napthol Red), "Yellow Ochre"(Raw Sienna + Arylide Yellow), Soft Body Titanium White.

June

Acrylic on panel, 8 x 10"

This is the result of an experiment I did with contrast in texture. I used lots of acrylic modeling paste for this one. I used Rembrandt's 'Juno' as a reference.
