ZULU THROUGH TIME: PROCESS OF "THE BIRTH OF ZULU"

 Here are some process shots of my painting of my cat which was a nod to Botticelli's "Birth of Venus". This was painted with acrylic on a 12"x16" canvas panel. The texture of the canvas on this scale made the execution of Botticelli's linear egg-tempera style very challenging:

This year I worked on a series of paintings with my cat, Zulu, as the subject. Each painting represents a different period in art history and a different style. Here are some process shots of the painting representing the Old Dutch Masters:
