This painting in my sketchbook is about 3" tall. I used Chroma's Jo Sonja Acrylics which are perfect for sketchbook painting. They are low viscosity so they dry flat and the matte surface won't stick to the other page when the book is closed.
Got the oil paints out again, getting re-acquainted with some practice. I used yellow ochre, permanent red medium, burnt sienna, prussian blue, titanium white.
I painted these 2 in the studio this morning as a warm-up. I used vine charcoal & black and white craft-grade acrylic paint mixed with retarder to aid wet-in-wet application. The surface is corrugated cardboard.
Toiling, rejoicing, sorrowing,
Onward through life he goes;
Each morning sees some task begin,
Each evening sees it close;
Something attempted, something done,
Has earned a night's repose.
